Executive summary

Vita Liberte is the Managing Partner of BDO Law and BDO Latvia and a sworn attorney-at-law with over 20 years of experience in professional advisory services. She provides clients with comprehensive support in financial, tax, and legal matters, as well as in dispute resolution.

Vita specializes in international commercial law and European Union law, which, combined with more than two decades of professional experience, enables her to deliver practical advice and high-quality legal assistance to clients.

The publication IFLR1000 has described her work as providing “fast communication and lightning-quick responses.” Timely advice and solutions developed by BDO Latvia professionals allow clients to successfully resolve situations and continue their operations without disruption.

In addition to commercial law, Vita also specializes in litigation, labor law, and competition law, offering legal support both during negotiations and in representing clients before public authorities and in court.

She closely follows industry trends, legislative developments, and case law, frequently sharing her expertise through articles, seminars, and conferences.

Vita is also responsible for international cooperation within the BDO network, ensuring the involvement of foreign specialists in complex or cross-border projects so clients can fully benefit from BDO’s global perspective.

Vita has over 20 years of professional experience advising clients on dispute resolution, commercial law, corporate governance documentation, and has substantial expertise in tax optimization and planning for both companies and individuals, mergers and acquisitions, due diligence processes, and other complex business development matters.

She has provided legal assistance to the Development Finance Institution Altum, preparing a legal opinion on the €80 million loan agreement with the European Investment Bank.

According to Legal500, Vita represents both state and municipal authorities, advising on corporate governance of public entities and board member liability. When evaluating the operations of municipalities or public bodies, understanding public law principles is essential—an area in which Vita has significant knowledge.

In the area of public procurement, Vita’s experience includes consulting on public-private partnership (PPP) projects, representing clients before the Procurement Monitoring Bureau and in court. One of her recent major projects was related to regional public transport service procurement, where she and her colleagues supported the client throughout the complaint and appeal processes.

In the PPP field, Vita and the BDO Law team developed a legal opinion on the proposed National Acoustic Concert Hall and Conference Center—a high-profile project in Latvia with major public and legal significance.

Beyond the above areas, Vita also advises on immigration law, including residence permit acquisition and business relocation support. Her work in facilitating the entry of highly qualified foreign professionals has helped several clients successfully establish operations in Latvia.

Before founding BDO in Latvia, Vita’s career included positions at two major international audit firms: PricewaterhouseCoopers in New York and Deloitte Latvia.
