As an attorney, Oskars has considerable experience in commercial law, litigation and human rights. Before joining a team of the BDO Law office, Oskars worked at the prosecutor’s office as an assistant to prosecutor, then for several years at one of the first law offices in Latvia – “Bļugers un Plaude”, and also practiced at the European Court of Human Rights, where he gained invaluable experience in the field of human rights. After that, Oskars practiced for 14 years at the “Spilbridge” law office, where he gained significant experience in resolving various disputes in courts and  various state institutions.

In his law practice, Oskars has advised and represented international and local clients in various legal matters, has successfully represented clients in great number of civil and administrative cases (including cases that form jurisprudence), as well as in cases before the Constitutional Court and in criminal cases. Oskars has also successfully represented clients at the European Court of Human Rights, achieving positive judgments for clients. Oskars has a unique experience related to competition law and the field of railway transport, within which Oskars has represented the client both at the Competition Council and the European Commission, as well as before the Court of Justice of the European Union. Oskars has also represented clients in criminal proceedings both in the police and prosecutor’s office, as well as in investigations conducted by the Office for Prevention and Combating Corruption. Also, Oskars has experience in representing client’s interests in the working group of the Ministry of Transport, helping to develop amendments to law. Oskars also has experience in the administration of insolvency proceedings.

On a regular basis Oskars improves his professional qualification and has attended more than 80 professional qualification improvement trainings (seminars and courses).
