7 candidates have been nominated for the BDO Young Artists Award 2021

At the end of the last week BDO Young Artists Award, 2021 jury meeting took place, during which 21 artworks submitted to the competition were evaluated.

For the second year in a row, BDO Latvia and this year together with the Latvian Academy of Arts (LAA), KIM? and PILOT organized a competition “BDO Young Artists Award 2021”, with the aim of promoting recognition and appreciation for young artists, as well as providing support for the development of art and the realization of Latvian of artworks also outside the local market.

According to the requirements of the competition, participation was open for last year graduates from the Latvian Academy of Arts.

The composition of the jury 2021 was represented by Kristaps Zarins, Rector, and Antra Priede, Vice-Rector, Latvian Academy of Arts, Vita Liberte, Managing Partner, Janis Zelmenis, Managing Partner, BDO Latvia, Elina Drake, Executive Director, Kim?, and Sabine Vernere, Manager, PILOT experimental art space.

As a result of the jury meeting, 7 finalists were determined, who are applying for a prize of EUR 2,000:

The winner of the competition will be announced and awarded on January 7, 2022, at the opening of the exhibition in the experimental art space PILOT of the Latvian Academy of Arts. The exhibition will be open to visitors until January 31, 2022.

Exhibition to be held in compliance with the restrictions set by the Republic of Latvia for the control of the Covid-19 virus.
