Interview with Vita Liberte: On Investing, Art and Building Sustainable Value

The journal Investoru Klubs has published an interview with Vita Liberte, Managing Partner and Attorney at BDO Latvia, in which she shares her approach to investing, financial discipline, and the way investments interact with personal values and professional experience. At the beginning of the interview, Vita expresses what matters most to her in this process:

“Investing gives me three things: discipline, patience and peace of mind.
It is like a workout for your financial health: a little stress and concern, but very rewarding in the long run.”

In the conversation, Vita explains why investing became a natural step in her professional life, rooted in data, purpose and a desire to manage her resources thoughtfully and strategically. She notes that her approach has evolved over the years, while her core principles remain the same: long-term thinking, clear goals and an appropriate level of risk.

A significant part of the interview focuses on art patronage and strengthening the role of culture in the Baltic region. As the founder of VV Foundation, Vita describes the challenges faced by young artists who often lack space, support and international opportunities. She also outlines the philosophy behind her art collection, emphasising that the most valuable work is not defined by price but by its ability to convey the region’s identity, a story and the artist’s unique perspective. Her collection includes about 500 works and serves as a living documentation of Baltic contemporary art.

Vita also speaks about her investments in real estate, including the PAiR artist residency in Pāvilosta, which was created as a long-term contribution to the cultural ecosystem rather than a commercial project. She highlights that such initiatives support community growth and the development of a thriving creative environment that extends beyond economic cycles.

The interview touches on several topics relevant to today’s investors: the potential of the Baltic capital market, the importance of investor education, the risks in the art market and the way legal training helps identify nuances and risks others might overlook.

Vita concludes by encouraging those who are only beginning to consider investing to start early, keep learning and invest consciously, even with small amounts, as long as it is done consistently.
