The award winner of will receive a €2,000 cash prize intended to support the artist’s creative development, the realization of new art projects, and further professional growth. A public voting award and a Satori online voting award will also be presented at the ceremony. Visitors can vote for their favourite artwork in person by attending the exhibition until March 25, as well as online on the Satori Facebook page until March 25 at 15:00.
The BDO Young Artists Award serves as a platform supporting the visibility and development of emerging artists, offering an opportunity to showcase and further develop their talent while contributing to the advancement of contemporary art in Latvia. This year, six finalists are competing for the main award – young artists who have graduated from the Art Academy of Latvia master’s degree programmes:
- Katrīna Biksone - “Leaving, will be there in the evening”
- Baiba Čadore - “Knots of Unfulfilled Dreams”
- Armands Andže - “Fear of the Landscape”
- Elizabete Andersone - “Ode to the Unnoticed”
- Laura Aizporiete - “The Encircled Room: Waiting and Latency”
- Kristers Krūms - “Friends’ Box”
This year’s jury included: Vita Liberte, Chairman of the Board, and Jānis Zelmenis, Council Member of BDO Latvia; Kristaps Zariņš, Rector, and Antra Priede, Vice-dean of the Art Academy of Latvia; Evita Goze, Executive Director of KIM? Contemporary Art Centre; as well as Liene Rumpe, winner of the BDO Young Artists Award 2022 and representative of DOM Gallery.
Admission to the exhibition is free of charge.
