  • Educational Background: Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a recognized law school or university with a focus on Law.
  • Basic Legal Knowledge: A foundational understanding of the principles of law, contracts, and legal research methods.
  • Research Skills: Ability to conduct comprehensive legal research using various tools and databases.
  • Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication abilities in Latvian and English. 

Some of your day-to-day tasks as a legal intern at BDO Law: 

  • Legal Research: Delve into case law, statutes, and legal articles to assist in the preparation of memos and advice for clients.
  • Document Review: Engage in the review of legal documents, extracting key information, and learning to spot relevant details.
  • Client Meetings: Attend client consultations alongside senior lawyers, observing legal counsel in action and taking vital notes.

Day-to-Day Tasks for Legal Assistants and Junior Associates

Legal Assistants and Junior Associates typically span 1 - 2 years, providing ample time for comprehensive learning in their engagements and an accelerated career track to the next level.

How is the interview process?

The interview process consists of three stages:

  • Talent Screening: Polish your CV and send it to us at cv@bdo.lv.
  • HR Interview: We'll invite you to an HR interview, which provides an opportunity for us to get to know you better.
  • Assessment of Skills: We assess your legal knowledge and experience, but don't worry, it's not meant to be overly stressful. This step helps us understand your strengths and areas for development.

How can I prepare for the interview?

We recommend brushing up on your legal knowledge and reflecting on your motivation for the role. Most importantly, just be yourself! Our goal is to get to know you better and understand your potential contributions.

Senior-Hire Positions

Taking on a senior role at BDO Law means stepping into a realm of significant responsibilities and influence. As an Associate or a Senior Associate, your tasks won't just be about legal expertise, but also about leadership, mentorship, and driving our firm’s vision forward. Engage with complex legal challenges, shape our firm's strategic direction, and mentor the next generation of legal minds. 



The requirements for this role are 

Education: Master's Degree in Law from a recognized institution.

Experience: A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in a legal setting, with proven expertise in specific areas of law pertinent to our firm's primary services and clientele. 

Legal Acumen: Ability to handle complex legal cases independently, demonstrating a high level of expertise in the relevant legal fields.

Leadership: Prior experience in leading or mentoring a team. Proven ability to guide junior staff and oversee multiple projects.

Communication: Fluent in Latvian and English, both written and verbal. Proficiency in any other language is a plus.

Day-to-day tasks of our Senior Hires: 

  • Case Management: You'll oversee case progression from initiation to resolution, ensuring adherence to the highest standards of legal practice.
  • Legal Research: : Diving into extensive legal research and case law analysis, aiding in effective client representation. 
  • Client Talks: Regular consultations with clients to understand their concerns, provide legal advice, and update them on case progress are essential 
  • Court Visits:  Represent clients in court hearings, negotiations, or mediation sessions.
