By strengthening its corporate finance practice, BDO in Latvia has joined forces with the independent investment management firm DB Partners. The main goal of cooperation is to help companies raise finance for a variety of needs, such as new or existing projects, increasing working capital, in case of company acquisitions, sale or restructuring. BDO Latvia thus provides one-stop access to all the practical support the Client needs to grow its business, helping to prepare for transactions, finding an investor, structuring the financial, legal and tax aspects of a transaction, and managing post-transaction integration.
“The transactions around the world are becoming increasingly complex, and for clients it is not enough to receive plain legal or tax advice. Therefore, in order to be able to offer BDO clients innovative and effective solutions during the transaction process as well as making decisions about the future business development plans and raising the necessary financing, we have decided to combine resources with one of the most experienced financial consulting firms in Latvia DB Partners,” says Jānis Zelmenis, Chairman of the Board of JSC “BDO Latvia”.
The Corporate finance practice will be led by Kārlis Babulis, who at the end of 2019 received the LatBAN "Investor of the Year" award in the nomination "The Greenest Investment of the Year" for the investment with the most positive impact on the environment. “There are a number of strong and innovative companies in Latvia with great potential for growth not only domestically but also internationally. However, the average value of transactions in Latvia is often below the radar of international investors, which is one of the main challenges for attracting financing in our region. The goal of BDO and DB Partners cooperation is to create a unique one-stop solution in Latvia for clients who want to sell their companies or need to raise capital for growth, acquisition of target companies or assets, conclusions of contracts or other purposes. Using local knowledge and international BDO network resources, we will help our clients attract investment, structure their transactions, find the most effective tax solution, and solve post-transaction integration, accounting or auditing issues,” states Kārlis Babulis.
Kārlis Babulis has over 15 years of experience in financial planning, structuring, due diligence, raising finance and planning and executing investments. As part of DB Partners, Kārlis has participated and led a number of international investment projects, as well as several financial due diligence, company and asset valuation, distressed business analysis, financial modelling and corporate finance projects in the logistics, tourism, communication, banking and insurance and other industries.
